Thurs 20th October – Wonderful Christmas Cards with Jane Gill – 10.30am – 4pm £30

Jane’s back and with her she is bringing some lovely new Christmas card designs. Using background and floral stamps combined with paper piecing, punching and heat embossing techniques, Jane will take you through the basics and help you produce two fabulously professional three-dimensional card designs to impress your families and friends. (The class price includes

one brilliant stamp set for you to take home for future use and your lunch).

Saturday 22nd October – “Oliver & S” Seashore Dress” children's dressmaking. 10.30 – 4pm £38

Following the success of our first ever “Oliver & S” day in June we are giving everyone another chance to spend a day making up one of these gorgeous vintage inspired children’s outfit. This lovely dress has low slung frills and concealed pockets - perfect for collecting secrets. This class is suitable for beginners as you will be taken through the process of making, step by step. You will leave the class with the confidence to complete your project (a couple of hems and a few buttons to sew on maybe) and get started on the next one! Included in the price of the dressmaking day is your multi-size “Oliver & S” pattern (please specify if you require 6months – 4years or 5 years to 12years when booking) and your lunch. Fabric can be purchased in store or brought with you – why not try some of our Oliver & S fabric as well!

Tuesday 8th November – Bag Making with Christine 10.30am – 4pm £30

Christine has come up with what we can only describe as the most perfect bag project we have come across. Perfectly sized and perfectly formed, this lined, over the shoulder bag, is just made every occasion. With Christine’s insight and tricks of the trade people just won’t believe that it’s not shop bought. Your lunch and wadding is included in the class price – you will need to choose and purchase some fabric.

Wednesday 9th November – Christmas Tree Stained Glass Patchwork Panel 10.30am – 4pm £35

This gorgeous Christmas tree wall-hanging has been much admired in our shop. Christine will show you how to construct patchwork piecing with the use of fusible bias binding to create a stained window effect. A very versatile technique that will bring real pizzazz to your projects. Your lunch, backing and wadding for your panel and your fusible bias binding is included in the class price and if you choose to stock up on fusible bias binding on the day we will give you an extra 10% off it’s price as a treat!

Thursday 10th November – Embellished Decorations with Christine - Session 1 10am – 1pm £20 - Session 2 2pm – 5pm £20

There is nothing we like more at Christmas time than a bit of sparkle and glitz. So come along to this fun filled class to make your Christmas more sparkle-filled than usual. Christine will be on hand to show you a variety of techniques using beads, fabric, trimmings and much much more – if you know Christine – you’ll know she has more than a couple of tricks up her sleeve – come and be inspired! All materials are included in the price of the class. Please specify which session you would like to attend when booking.

Friday 11th November - Japanese Folded Patchwork PART 2 – Three Dimensional Construction 10.30am – 4pm £28

In this class you will be shown how to join your patchwork pieces to make a variety of three dimensional forms including a selection of bag designs. With their repeated patterns and seemingly complex structures, these projects really do have the wow factor. You really won’t believe that such a simple technique can yield such amazing results! Depending on the project you choose you may need to be purchase some more special weight interfacing. Your lunch is included. (Please note this is a follow on course from the previously “Introduction to...” session – you will need to have attended PART 1 to take part in PART 2)

Saturday 12th November – Purse Making with Sew-In Purse Frames – 10.30am – 4pm £35

Sue is a very talented lady indeed – not only is she a textile artist extraordinaire but she is the whizziest purse maker we know! Using sew-in purse frames – Sue will show you how to measure and cut your fabric to fit your chosen purse frame – how to construct your purse pocket and, crucially, the tricky bit – how to attach your purse frame. If you are extra speedy there may even be the chance to embellish your purse with cover buttons and trims - Brilliant little gifts but almost too nice to give away! Choose some fabric from our scrap bag or purchase your own (you’ll only need 25cm). Your purse frames and lunch is included in the class price. (Be warned – this is a very additive make!)

Tues 15th November - Layer Cake Quilts with Carolyn Forster 10.30am – 4pm £35

Let Carolyn dispel the mysteries of working with pre-cuts. With the focus on layer cakes (pre-cut 10” squares of fabric) Carolyn will be on hand to show you how they can be used to produce a variety of different designs quickly and easily. Using different variations in cutting and joining methods you will be able to produce a selection of blocks from the more traditional “sixteen patch” and “Puss-in-the-Corner” to the more quirky “shattered” blocks. Choose a layer cake in store to work with (you will receive 10% off it’s price if you purchase it when booking or on the day of the class) or come along with some co-ordinating pre-cut 10” squares. Lunch provided.

Friday 18th November Fabulous and Floral Card Making 10.30pam – 4pm £30

Make a statement and add the wow factor to your cards with these jumbo floral stamps. Using added colour, three dimensional decoupage, and paper piecing take your card making to the next level. Suitable for experienced and first time card makers alike - Jane will be on hand with all the tricks of the trade to make the professional looking cards you have always aspired to. (The class price includes one stamp set you for to take home for future use and your lunch).

Saturday 19th November – Professional Cushion Making 10.30 – 4pm £30

Get the professional finishing you have been searching for with our expert Kim. You will cover the methods involved in making zipped and piped cushions. (Time permitting, you will also learn how to embellish and personalise your cushion.) You will need to purchase fabric – but zips, piping cord, and other haberdashery are provided. So is lunch!

Throughout December we will be running make and take sessions. Each Saturday (3rd, 10th, 17th) you are very welcome to pop into the shop to take part in mini projects leading up to the festive period (there’s no need to book). These sessions start from £4 per person and are suitable for all the family. Projects will vary from Saturday to Saturday (although you will always find us making at least one exciting button project!) so come along for some last minute gift making or a little bit of me time!

(We will then be having a short winter break from classes – so keep an eye on the blog and website for more information – we look forward to seeing you in the early Spring!)
