Saturday 18th May – Free-hand Machine Embroidery with Sue - 10.30 - 4pm £45

In this day session you will be able to explore machine embroidery as a technique, complete a selection of samples and begin a mini picture using fabric appliqué techniques. With Sue’s guidance you will come away with a fabric picture that will be amazing, quirky and unique. A beautiful addition to your hand-made home. Scrap fabrics are included in your class price and canvases to mount your work will also be available to purchase on the day should you wish to. (We would really recommend you bring your own sewing machine to this class if at all possible as you will be able to work more comfortably. If you have a darning or embroidery foot please bring this too.)

Saturday 8th June - Purse Making with Sew-In Purse Frames - 10.30am - 4pm £35

Welcome back to Sue - the whizziest purse maker in town! Using sew-in purse frames, Sue will show you how to measure and cut your fabric to fit your chosen purse frame - how to construct your purse pocket and crucially, the tricky bit, how to attach your purse frame. If you are extra speedy there may even be the chance to embellish your purse with cover buttons and trims. Brilliant little gifts but always too nice to give away! Choose some fabric from our scrap bag or purchase your own in store (you'll only need 25cm). Your purse frame is included in the class price.

All the extra bits........

Materials and Lunches:  When booking a class you will be told if you need to bring anything along to the class. Normally you would have the choice of purchasing fabric in store or bringing your own, or sometimes all materials are provided – if you have any questions in regard to this please just drop us a line and we can advise you. Hot and/or cold drinks and biscuits will be provided during all classes but if you are attending a full day class you will need to bring a packed lunch.

Teenagers and children:  Unless otherwise stated the majority of our classes are suitable for beginners and can be attended by teenagers with basic sewing machine (or appropriate) skills if accompanied by an adult – phone us prior to booking to confirm.

“Make and Takes”:  Make and Take sessions are designed to be suitable for all the family – so bring cousin lucy, bring great aunt Tabitha just drop by any time within the stated session. Again under eighteens must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Childrens’ Birthday Parties:  We also run childrens’ party sessions for seven year olds upwards. Prices and timings vary to suit your needs. Ask in store, email or telephone us for your details. Please note our calendar gets booked up very quickly so book early to avoid disappointment.

Sewing Machines:  For all machine sewing classes we now recommend you bring your own sewing machines. We still have Elna 2600 machines in the classroom available for you to use if you are travelling a distant or coming by public transport -  so just let us know if you would like one set up for your chosen class. However from recent feedback  we feel strongly that people achieve more and are happier when using a machine familiar to them.

Craft Groups and Classroom Space: If you are a craft group looking for a working venue or would like to attend a class together please get in touch – we can normally organise a repeat class or an event to suit you.  Please note we can no longer offer our classroom for hire as a workroom space on an individual basis.

Booking: When booking we will need to take a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure your place. This can be transferred between class bookings (or for store credit) at least two weeks prior to your class being held.  If you cancel your booking within the two weeks prior to your class we will not be able to issue you with a transfer or store credit unless we are able to fill your place on the class.  We hope that you understand that recent short notice cancellations has meant it has been necessary  to change our booking systems and policies.

Event Days: We are not having a school house day this year instead we are continuing our range of successful event days – so come along to learn, create, enjoy and have a good old natter with like minded people.

Do get in touch with any queries and we look forward to welcoming you soon!
